Scale Practice (Beta)
A Max for Live device for methodically practicing scales across modes and octaves.

How it works:

• Choose scale types: Major, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Locrian, Natural Minor, Harmonic Minor, Melodic Minor.
• Select play patterns: Up (1-3 octaves), Up & Down (1-3 octaves), with one or both hands.
• A visual keyboard highlights correct notes and suggested fingering (toggleable).

Practice workflow:

1. Play the scale in sequence.
2. Correct completion: A success sound plays (mutable), and a new scale generates.
3. Mistakes: An error sound plays only after finishing the attempt (mutable).
4. Reset: Use the button or a mapped MIDI note (customizable via “Change Reset Note”) to restart mid-scale. A “rewind” sound confirms the reset (mutable).

Features:

• Resizable window + “Always on top” mode.
• Visual aids (keyboard/fingering) can be hidden for unassisted practice.

Current limitations:

• Melodic Minor plays ascending only, even in “Up & Down” patterns (intentional but adjustable in future updates).
• Deselecting all scales may not display a warning until after a correct input.

Planned updates:

• Sheet music display with key signatures.
• Customizable root notes (select/block specific keys).
• Dedicated plugin window + standalone version.

Requirements:

• Ableton Live 11+ with Max for Live.
